POSITION SUMMARY
The Community College of Aurora serves our diverse community by providing high-quality instruction to prepare students for transfer and employment. With a strong foundation in diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as student-centering practices, the Film Video program at CCA offers classes, certificates, and degrees in acting, directing, cinematography, screen writing, producing and post-production.
The Film Video program is seeking innovative, inclusive, and engaging instructors to teach FVM 2009 Production Management through dynamic and active learning strategies.
The successful candidate must embrace and exemplify the college values of respect, collaboration, quality, access, diversity, and inclusion at all levels of engagement. This person must be familiar with the issues facing film video professionals today by having industry experience for CTE credentialing; be skillful in the use of technology in education; be fully committed to equity diversity and inclusion; and show passion for teaching and commitment to student success.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Promote student success through engaging instruction, accessibility, and rigor.
  • Embrace diversity, equity and inclusion in pedagogy. This includes the ability to meet the needs of individual students, cover inclusive topics, and incorporate diverse sources into the curriculum.
  • Uphold the values of the college.
  • Provide differential instruction with high expectations and support for students across a range of technical experience and expertise.
  • Before the first class session, according to published deadlines, provide the department with a copy of the course syllabus.
  • At the first class session, provide students with a syllabus for the course that includes all required components.
  • Evaluate student performance in accordance with student learning outcomes as stated in the course syllabus.
  • Conduct student evaluations of instruction in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and grading of students in the college learning management system-MyCourses (D2L)-and submit required records according to published instructions and deadlines.
  • Attend program/departmental/division/instruction-wide meetings as called by the Program Lead, Department Chair, Dean, or Vice President of Academic Affairs.
  • Participate in instructional professional development activities as required; instructors must complete a departmental orientation during their first year.
  • Participate in all departmental and college-wide assessment practices.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Content Knowledge Evidence - An Associate's (or relevant current industry license or certification), Bachelor's degree, or Master's degree with 18 discipline-related credits in business, finance, media studies, film, and or media arts from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Experience with Movie Magic Scheduling and Movie Magic Budgeting
  • Unofficial transcripts must be provided as part of the application materials.
  • Occupational Experience Evidence - For an Associate Degree or Current Industry License or Certification, 4000 hours within last 7 years of paid and/or unpaid professional industry experience (non-teaching) in related field (1-year full time equates to approximately 2000 hours). For a Bachelor or Master's Degree, 2000 hours within last 7 years of paid and/or unpaid professional industry experience (non-teaching) in related field (1-year full time equates to approximately 2000 hours)
The finalist will have to provide some evidence of occupational experience in the industry during the hiring process.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BFA/BA or MFA in film/media in addition to a degree in business or finance
  • College level teaching experience in video/media production management
  • Experience teaching in a community college setting
  • Knowledge and understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
  • Willingness to learn about and incorporate the DEI framework into pedagogy.
  • Ability to teach courses in-person at the Lowry campus.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Salary: The starting rate is $1,446.00 per credit hour taught.
Position Specifics: Positions are available for Fall 2024 as well as future semesters. These positions are part-time. There are no insurance benefits offered with these positions. However, other benefits associated with this type of position include educational benefits, a pension plan through the Colorado Public Employees Retirement Association and eligibility to contribute to supplemental retirement plans.
