POSITION SUMMARY
The Community College of Aurora (CCA) is seeking a Temporary/Hourly Structural Trades Technician to join our Facilities Management team. This position will support the maintenance and improvement of the campus facilities through a variety of tasks, including light carpentry, drywall repair and painting, light electrical work, light plumbing, light HVAC work, and moving and assembly of furniture. The ideal candidate will have a broad skill set in general maintenance and trades, with a focus on ensuring the campus environment is safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing for students, staff, and visitors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Light Carpentry: Perform minor carpentry tasks such as repairing doors, windows, and other structural elements.
  • Drywall Repair and Painting: Patch and repair drywall and apply paint to maintain and improve the appearance of campus buildings.
  • Light Electrical Work: Conduct basic electrical repairs and installations, such as replacing light bulbs.
  • Light Plumbing: Address minor plumbing issues, including unclogging drains.
  • Light HVAC Work: Assist with routine HVAC maintenance, including filter changes and minor repairs.
  • Furniture Moving and Assembly: Move, assemble, and install furniture and equipment as needed for campus events and office setups.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for all campus occupants.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in general maintenance or related trades.
  • Skills: Proficiency in light carpentry, drywall repair, painting, light electrical work, plumbing, HVAC maintenance, and furniture assembly.
  • Knowledge: Basic understanding of building systems and maintenance procedures.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks as required.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Dependability: Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous experience working in an educational or institutional setting.
  • Relevant certifications in trades or maintenance fields.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Salary: The hourly rate offered for this position is $22/hr.
Schedule: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday.
Duration: Temporary position with the possibility of extension based on campus requirements.
