Community College of Baltimore County is Hiring a Faculty Fellowship - Adjunct Faculty Near Baltimore, MD

Class DescriptionThe Faculty Fellowship program seeks current graduate students or early career faculty who demonstrate a passion for teaching. The program is specifically interested in developing faculty committed to equity and diversity with specific awareness of mentoring, supporting, and teaching marginalized students, including African American and other student populations in higher education.
This is a two-year grant-funded position. Faculty fellows will be hired to teach one course their first semester at the Adjunct Faculty rate; two courses their second semester and four courses at the full-time faculty salary rate during their second year (both semesters). Faculty fellows will also mentor students and will participate in professional learning.
Candidates in the following disciplines are strongly encouraged to apply:

Minimum RequirementsEducation and Experience: Meet one of the following educational requirements that fulfill the minimum qualifications for the discipline taught:
  • A current graduate student (must have completed at least 24 graduate credits in the discipline being taught) at the time of application and have an anticipated graduation of May 2025 or before.
  • Ph.D. or doctoral student who has completed at least 30 graduate credits in the discipline being taught.
  • Master's degree in the being discipline taught.
Campus Locations: Essex, Dundalk & Catonsville
Pay Level: $1050 per credit hour
In addition to the application, candidates must submit the following:
  • Current resume or CV.
  • Letter of interest describing relevant knowledge, skills, and characteristics, and connecting these to the job duties. Candidates should discuss an understanding of and commitment to diverse student populations, including African Americans, through candidate’s research and/or teaching.
  • Unofficial Transcripts documenting degrees earned or in progress and relevant coursework (official required upon hire).
  • Include the names and contact information for at least 3 professional references.
Class Specific Essential Duties
  • Mentor marginalized student groups, including African American students, through the Male Student Success Center and other programs.
  • Knowledge of how to develop course materials, lesson plans, and assessments aligned with learning objectives and standards.
  • Meet regularly with a faculty fellow mentor to collaborate on strategies for supporting marginalized students, and discuss student engagement and academic support tailored to the unique needs of this student population.
  • Conduct classes according to the scheduled syllabus and lesson plans.
  • Deliver lectures, lead discussions, and facilitate learning activities.
  • Provide guidance and support to students to help them understand course materials and achieve learning objectives.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development activities to enhance teaching effectiveness and stay current with developments in the field.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and respect for students, colleagues, and institutional policies.
  • Communicate with department chairs, academic advisors, and other administrators as needed to address issues related to course delivery, student performance, or other concerns.

  • Tax-sheltered annuities – 403(b). Payroll salary reduction authorization is needed. The form is available on SharePoint Forms/Human Resources Forms. The 403(b) supplemental retirement plan is available to all CCBC employees (Adjunct Faculty, Part Time Associates and Full Time employees).
  • Roth 403(b) is a savings feature that is available when you open a 403(b) account. The Roth 403(b) savings feature allows employees to contribute after-tax dollars and then withdraw tax-free dollars from their account upon retirement. The Roth 403(b) savings feature is only offered by the following vendors: TIAA-CREF and VOYA Financial Advisors, Inc. Adjunct Faculty, Part Time Associates and Full Time employees are eligible to save for retirement using the Roth 403(b) savings feature. Employees may contribute traditional pre-tax 403(b) dollars and Roth 403(b) post-tax dollars simultaneously. The savings limits are combined for the Traditional 403(b) and the Roth 403(b) contributions.
  • Deferred Compensation Plan — 457(b) offered through VOYA Financial Advisors, Inc. The 457(b) salary reduction authorization form is needed. The form is available on SharePoint Forms/Human Resources Forms.
ParkingFree. Must obtain a parking permit from the Department of Public Safety to use on all campuses.
Sick and Safe LeaveCCBC is pleased to offer paid sick and safe leave for part-time employees. Paid sick and safe leave is earned by all part-time employees including credit and non-credit adjunct faculty, part-time associates and other part-time employees.
