COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAM BELKNAP-MERRIMACK COUNTIES is Hiring a Kitchen Assistant - Summer Food Service Program Near Concord, NH

SCHEDULE:
June 21 - August 16, 2024. Monday - Friday, 4 Hours/Day, 5 Days/Week.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Kitchen Assistant & Transporter assists the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) cook in the preparation of meals for SFSP sites in the corresponding community. Responsible for transporting and distributing meals to SFSP sites.
PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITES
  • Assists cook with meal preparation for the SFSP; follows the provided menu with no alteration, unless approved by the SFSP Program Manager. Prepares all meals following the provided quantity necessary for food recipes and program guidelines.
  • Maintains an understanding of USDA requirements.
  • Maintains sanitary food practices in accordance with state and local requirements.
  • Communicates the daily participants count between the summer camps and and the kitchen.
  • Ensures cleanliness of the kitchen, refrigerators, freezers, stoves and ovens. All cleaning must be performed on a routine basis as well as "as needed."
  • Transports meals to sites prior to meal service.
  • Completes meal count sheets for SFSP sites.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

  • Maintain adequate knowledge of all CAPBM programs to make referrals to other CAPBM programs beneficial to the participant.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with all current, past, and prospective clients, and maintain the confidentiality of clients and staff per CAPBM policy and procedure. Adhere strictly to the confidentiality of clients, co-workers, and internal business information.
  • Present a professional and positive image as a representative of CAPBM.
  • Follow established policies and procedures and comply with all safety requirements.
  • Communicate proactively with the supervisor regarding workflow, problems, suggestions, etc.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment; and attend team and staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Be punctual for scheduled work, use time appropriately, and complete work in a timely fashion with minimal errors.

Requirements
Experience:
  • One year of experience in commercial kitchens or equivalent food service experience.
  • Good verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate with staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment as needed.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards as they relate to food preparation, service, and storage.
Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalency credential.
License/Certification:
  • Successful completion of criminal record check.
  • ServSafe certification.
  • Valid driver's license with access to reliable transportation for required travel.

The Community Action Program Belknap-Merrimack Counties, Inc. (CAPBMCI, CAPBM, CAP-BM, BMCAP) is a New Hampshire-based 501(c)(3) private, nonprofit organization. The agency was established in 1965 under the provisions of the Equal Opportunity Act of 1964. Under this Act, over twelve hundred Community Action Agencies (CAA) were established nationwide. The primary mission of the organization is to work with low-income families, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities to assist them in their efforts to become or remain financially and socially independent. The Agency accomplished this task ... by providing a broad array of services that are locally defined, planned, and managed. The agency sponsors and manages seventy-three (73) programs designed to meet the needs of children, families, single parents, and the elderly.
