Description

Job Title:  Director of Youth and Family Services

Department: Administration

Reports To: Chief Clinical Officer

Purpose:

The Director of Youth and Family Services is responsible for the overall provision of Youth and Family Services at C4’s west side locations. They are accountable for ensuring the delivery of highquality comprehensiveand cost-effective clinical services and enhancing overall service area performance in a culturally sensitive and appropriate manner. Programs under the director include Youth Outpatient Services, the Community Based Treatment Team, the High Risk Youth Intervention Services Team, and oversight of the YFS intern program.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Oversees the effective management and efficient integration of service delivery functionsfor youth and family services including, continuity, consistency,efficiency and effectiveness of and service delivery
  2. Provides supervision to clinical supervisors and supervising clinicians in the Youth and Family Services Department
  3. Build and maintain community partnerships including attending and participating in community events
  4. Oversee and support report requirements on clinical components of applicable grants
  5. Work closely with Chicago Public Schools to maintain and grow school partnerships and Strategic Source Vendor status.
  6. Coordinate with graduate school programs and develop and oversee clinical internship program
  7. Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures for new community-based programming
  8. Evaluate and maintain existing policies pertaining to service delivery and clinical expectations.
  9. Conduct department audits, data collection, and reviews to ensure ability to meet department objectives. Communicate with Chief Clinical Officer about any barriers to meeting program expectations or goals.
  10. Assist with the creation of short-and long-range service delivery operating strategies for C4 and is accountable for the implementation of such strategies in all child and adolescent services areas
  11. Initiates, cultivates and maintains professional relationships within C4 to enhance communications, shared vision, support, and program alignment
  12. Determines individual performance expectations for direct reports.
  13. Fosters a collegial and transparent operating culture among site staff
  14. Initiates, cultivates and maintains professional relationships with human services and government agencies, health service vendors, and public and private groups to enhance service delivery and Agency presence in the community
  15. Works closely with C4 leadership to evaluatesystems for process improvements and efficiencies
  16. Stays abreast of current service delivery, medical services, and operational reporting requirements, techniques, and practices
  17. Actively participates on committees and special projects
  18. Develops long range objectives and plans
  19. Checks the quality and timeliness of others’ work
  20. Manages performance improvement and recommends corrective/disciplinary action
  21. Develops, coaches, and guides direct reports
  22. Adherence to C4’s confidentiality practices and procedures
  23. Performs other duties as assigned by the President & CEO

Working Conditions

  1. Normal office environment including movement from desk to other work areas in a multi-floor suite and multi-building sites to carry out job duties
  2. Might also be required to provide supervisory consultations over the phone while off site or outside of normal business hours
  3. Required to drive to all C4 site locations as needed

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Graduate Degree in Behavioral Health and a minimum of 5-7 years experience gained through increasing responsibilities
  2. LCSW, LCPC, or LMFT
  3. Prior not-for-profit experience with a mental healthcare provider
  4. In depth experience in child and adolescent counseling in a community mental health setting
  5. Superior leadership experience including direct staff management (i.e., feedback, coaching, and developing staff)
  6. Personal vehicle, valid driver’s license, insurable driving record and vehicle insurance

Competencies (Minimum Skills, Knowledge, and Experience):

  1. Detailed and extensive knowledge of community-based mental health operational management and proven management skills including evaluation of clinical efficiency and effectiveness
  2. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  3. Ability to plan, develop and manage multiple projects
  4. Significant knowledge of governmental, funding, and accreditation requirements in the State of Illinois
  5. Excellent written and oral skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, governmental and community representatives, and vendors
  6. Ability to comprehend complex ideas, develop solutions to problems, and to analyze qualitative and quantitative data
  7. Ability to facilitate discussions and negotiate resolution of controversial issues
  8. Ability to work within a team
  9. Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and competency
  10. Ability to present a positive image of C4 to clients and visitors
  11. Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  12. Ability to resolve issues objectively and maintain strict confidentiality
  13. Ability to deal with ambiguity and changing organizational needs
  14. Ability to develop solutions to problems and to analyze qualitative and quantitative data
  15. Knowledge of HIPAA privacy and security regulations
