Community Day Charter Public Schools is Hiring a School Psychologist (SY 2024-2025) Near Lawrence, MA

Community Day Charter Public School (CDCPS) School Psychologists are passionate about advocating, developing, monitoring, supporting, and guiding students to ensure their success inside and outside the classroom. School Psychologists believe all students will succeed with the proper scaffolds in place. School Psychologists offer our students holistic support while maintaining high expectations. Lastly, as part of the Student Support Team, School Psychologists provide consultation services for our staff that would best support and foster student growth.Community Day Charter Public School (CDCPS) seeks passionate educators with outstanding academic backgrounds to work with our school teams, renowned for closing the achievement gap. CDCPS manages multiple campuses across Lawrence, MA, and serves 1,200 pre-kindergarten to 8th-grade students. We believe in providing our students with a rigorous student-centered academic program while investing in their social, emotional, and holistic well-being. CDCPS has dedicated teams to support our teachers, ensuring our students' success.Responsibilities (included but not limited to):
  • Create a climate conducive to counseling and implement a variety of effective guidance and therapeutic strategies
  • Determine needs and provide direct interventions for students through individual and small group counseling sessions and classroom social-emotional learning (SEL) lessons as needed
  • Evaluate and screen students to assess cognitive abilities and social-emotional and behavioral needs
  • Write evaluation reports, including all cognitive, social-emotional, Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs), and behavior goals
  • Determine and maintain programs based on goals set by Individualized Education Plans (IEP) and 504 Plans, and students considered for 504 Plans
  • Attend IEP, 504, or regular education meetings that involve students on caseload or when requested
  • Maintain and adhere to a daily schedule of activities, write progress reports, maintain clinical notes, and establish annual goals for students either through their IEP or a regular educational plan
  • Maintain logs and ongoing assessments to evaluate student progress
  • Attend parent conferences whenever possible
  • Work with families to help students make positive behavioral changes
  • Coordinate outreach activities that support our students and families, including pediatricians, outside counseling agencies, and agencies such as the Department of Youth Services (DYS), Department of Children & Families (DCF), Department of Mental Health (DMH), etc.
  • Work in conjunction with the Special Education Team to create Educational Plans for annual reviews and provide input for students who are involved with the initial or three-year re-evaluation
  • Conduct in-service training on certain topics such as behavior management strategies, functional behavioral assessments, emotional disabilities, and psycho-educational testing
  • Provide consultation to classroom teachers pertaining to student progress, behavior management techniques, and establishing individualized behavior management plans
  • All other duties as assigned by your supervisor
    Qualifications:
    • Uphold a passionate belief in CDCPS' mission, values, and educational model.
    • A Master's Degree in Psychology is required
    • A valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education School Psychologist License is required
    • Previous experience working with school-aged children is strongly preferred
    • Ability to demonstrate skills in collaborative planning and problem-solving
    • Ability to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to demonstrate flexibility, patience, and a sense of humor
    • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of and experience with the implementation of developmentally appropriate strategies
