POSITION: Commercial Lines Account Executive/Commercial Service Representative

DEPARTMENT: Commercial Lines

REPORTS TO: Commercial Lines Manager

LICENSE REQUIRED: Yes [P&C]

STATUS: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:

The Commercial Lines Account Executive is responsible for managing and servicing an assigned book of commercial lines business, by analyzing customers’ business needs, evaluating options, and offering tailored insurance solutions. The Commercial Service Representative works alongside the C/L Account Executive to assist and learn all aspects of servicing a book of commercial lines business.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Market, service and promote the agency’s products and services to develop and retain customers.

· Service/Manage a designated group of customers, including analyzing the needs of the customers, evaluating and answering questions regarding coverage, and determining the most suitable product for the customer.

· Independently develop and maintain strong knowledge of the marketplace and strong working relationships with company representatives and underwriters, when applicable. If no coverage is available in the admitted market, investigate risk placement alternatives, if available.

· Prepare quotes and proposals for customers and discuss pricing, policy conditions, and terms with selected carriers. Review all quotations with recommendations as to the best options for price, coverage, and risk alternatives in coordination with Commercial Lines Producer. Bind coverage with insurance carriers within agency authority.

· Prepare auto ID cards, binders, endorsements, certificates, summaries of insurance and proposals as needed.

· Prep applications and complete applications in coordination with the Commercial Lines Producer, submit applications to eligible carriers, obtain client signatures on all applications, and follow up to ensure timely receipt of quotations and policies.

· Handle telephone calls and personal visits from customers pertaining to their business needs and coverage requirements, claims, remarkets, additional lines of coverage and miscellaneous correspondence such as certificates, additional insured, mortgagee requests, etc.

· Actively manage accounts prior to renewal to identify concerns, external competition, exposure changes, and additional coverage needs.

· Assist existing customers through the renewal process with strong communication and market knowledge. Educate customers on policy/product features, advantages, and disadvantages. Remarket accounts as necessary in coordination with the Commercial Lines Producer.

· Ensure that all renewals and all requests for changes, endorsements, etc. are properly implemented and adhere to the various company requirements. Review monthly expiration lists to ensure all policies have been renewed.

· Review audits of policies, verify accuracy and facilitate corrections, as needed, between customer and carrier.

· Assists customers in submitting first reports of claims with carriers and follow up on claims status to keep insureds informed. Use each claim contact as an opportunity to review coverages and market as needed.

· On receipt of company –produced policies and endorsements, review for accuracy and request corrections when needed.

· Document all conversations with customers and/or insurers relative to exposures and coverages.

· In all processes, refer to and adhere to the agency’s Workflow and Procedures manual.

· May be expected to attend industry-specific seminars and training, as needed.

· Other duties, as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

· Perform duties independently with little or no supervision, operating from established directions, instructions, and agency workflows.

· Daily contact with customers and carriers, which involves gathering and exchanging information, problem solving, quoting, and/or negotiations.

· Contact customers to collect information on any changes to the account, analyze the continued exposure and tolerance to risk, and review coverage options and risk management/prevention strategies.

· Must have knowledge of all forms of commercial lines coverage, rating, underwriting and claims procedures.

· Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as Applied agency management system.

· Thorough knowledge of the marketplace: carriers, underwriting requirements, and the products they offer.

· Adherence to company policies and procedures.

· Excellent communication and organizational skills are required.

· Ability to work effectively in a team environment and assist co-workers as needed.

· Assure timeliness and accuracy of your work.

· Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience: A minimum of three (3) years related industry experience and/or training.

Licensure: Possess an active Property & Casualty insurance license.

Continuing Education/Training: As required by applicable statutes and regulations.
