Description

A preceptorship is a mentoring experience that provides students with the opportunity to work closely with a practicing provider working in his or her chosen field. This preceptorship also provides him or her with the chance to work directly with patients, doctors, and other health care providers related to patient care, patient education, documentation of chronic medical conditions, documentation of preventive services, medication reconciliation, and coordination of patient check-out and follow-up. Applications and requests are processed on a first-come, first-served basis and availability of slots.

Qualifications

Education: Actively completing advanced specialty courses at an accredited institution (CHCL must have an active student agreement with the school)
Expertise: Current in Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (CPR)
Travel: Occasionally

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

Knowledge of medical terminology
Able to exercise good judgment and be neat and clean
Excellent team participation and organizational skills
Excellent customer Service
Good communications skills: speaking and writing
Good listening skills
Ability to learn and apply what has learned
Service Orientation: Actively looking for ways to help people.
Time Management: Managing one's own time and the time of others.
Able to teach others (Staff and Patients)
