Job Description
Job Title: Electrophysiology (EP) Technician
Location: Birmingham, AL - Grandview Medical Center
Job Type: PRN, must work 4 shifts within a 6 week period.
Job Summary:
The electrophysiology (EP) technician performs both technical and general duties, including assisting physicians and other CV lab team on all procedures in the electrophysiology lab by monitoring, documenting, and evaluating physiological data and patient response to implemented care. Performs technical and general duties in diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular, peripheral vascular and other radiological procedures. Direct involvement with EP program development, other training and leadership responsibilities in the department.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare patients for EP procedures, including explaining the procedure, obtaining consent, and ensuring patient comfort
* Monitor and record electrocardiograms (ECGs) and intracardiac signals during EP procedures.
* Maintain accurate records of patient data and procedure information.
* Ensure patient safety throughout the procedure, monitoring vital signs, and responding to any adverse events or complications.
* Be prepared to respond to medical emergencies and codes within the EP lab, including basic life support and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS).
Qualifications:
* High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree preferred
* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
* RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist),
* RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist) preferred.
* Strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
