Community Health System is Hiring a Litigation Counsel Near Franklin, TN

Community Health Systems is a leading operator of general acute care hospitals and outpatient care centers in communities across the United States. CHS affiliates own, lease or operate 84 affiliated hospitals in 16 states with an aggregate of approximately 13,000 licensed beds. Healthcare services are also provided in more than 1,000 outpatient sites of care including affiliated physician practices, urgent care centers, freestanding emergency departments, imaging centers, cancer centers, and ambulatory surgery centers.

CHSPSC, LLC seeks a Litigation Counsel for its Franklin, TN, headquarters’ In- House Legal team.

Summary: Manges outside non-insured litigation and related litigation processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Work with and assist the Vice President and Chief Litigation Counsel on various litigation matters;
  • Manage outside, non-insured litigation, including, without limitation, case strategy, supervision of outside counsel, legal process and subpoenas.
  • Interprets laws, rulings, and regulations.
  • Examines legal data to determine advisability of defending or prosecuting lawsuit.
  • Manage written and electronic discovery.
  • Prepare and/or review business contracts and administer other legal matters.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and edit court filings and other litigation-related documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management.

Math Ability:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, Microsoft Outlook and e-discovery collection and review software.

Education/Experience:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and licensed to practice law or eligible to waive in or sit for the bar in the State of Tennessee; three to six years’ experience handling complex litigation and associated matters. Experience in and understanding of various aspects of healthcare law and litigation and complex e-discovery issues required.
