Job scope: 

The Controllermanages and supervises the daily operations of the Business office in the areasof accounting, accounts payable, receivables, payroll, and audits. Position provides needed support anddirection to staff to ensure functions of Business office are performedefficiently, and assists in managing work flow and prioritizing tasks. The Controller provides coordination ofannual single audit and various state/federal agency audits and monitoringvisits. The Position is responsible for budget approval andsignature authorization of Business Office purchase requests up to ProgramManager level. Includes financial statement preparation, fundtransfers, and working with HUD independent auditors.

Education/licensure: 

Bachelor's Degree in accounting with a minimumof 5 years of recent, similar work as a Controller preferred. Current valid driver'slicense in state of residence.

Experience/Knowledge:

Work experience in a governmental or non-profit organization preferred. Must have substantial management experience and computerized accounting and excel spreadsheet experience. A thorough knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles is required. 

Must be detail-oriented and have critical thinking skills to analyzedata, determine actions, and implement decisions. Must work with a high degree of independence,self-motivation, and dependability. Mustpossess problem solving and analytical skills for complex accountingtasks. Must maintain effective relationswith staff, co-workers, supervisors, program staff, auditors, and fundingagency staff. Must maintain compliance withall standards of contractual specifications, mandatory training, privacy standards,licensing certifications, professional/ethical conduct, and other standards.
