Job scope:
Directs, coordinates, supports and evaluates on-the-job performance of direct report Parent Educators to ensure parental knowledge of child development to ensure that young children are healthy, safe, and ready to learn. The position implements and supervises the framework for Parents as Teacher program services per the PAT Essential Requirements that includes home visits, screenings, resource connection and group meetings; resulting in individualized family services. Implements strategies to support and strengthen parent educator-family relationships, and supports the facilitation of the PAT model in working with families. Monitors program budget for appropriate and approved spending within yearly budgetary limits. Provides and documents reflective supervision for Parent Educators. PAT serves eligible pregnant women and children birth through kindergarten entrance and their families. A combination of education, work experience and effective interpersonal and communication skills is critical for this position.
Education/licensure:
Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Social Work, Behavioral or Social Sciences or a related field. Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience working with families and young children. Must successfully complete Foundational and Model Implementation Training and Foundational II training, per PAT guidelines. Current valid driver's license in state of residence, proof of automobile liability insurance, and a driving record insurable by the center's insurance carrier.
Experience/Knowledge: Experience working with low-income families with infants, toddlers and pregnant women. Must obtain Parents as Teachers certification. Must be knowledgeable of the social, emotional, intellectual and creative needs of young children. Must be experienced working with parents and the general public and be able to relate to parents and to understand their needs and requests; Spanish speaking preferred.
Physical requirements that are bona fide occupational qualifications essential to the performance of the job: Be able to complete activities necessary to perform services. This includes but is not limited to bending, lifting up to 44 pounds, carrying, crawling, and kneeling. Must be able to tolerate excessive heat and coldFull Time
