ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Identifies, assesses and diagnoses problems through patient assessment and interactions; and evaluates actual or potential patient health problems.
2. Develops and participates in educating patients, their families, or significant others about post discharge care programs.
3. Initiates patient care meetings with the health care team to revise the plan of care as the patient’s condition warrants.
4. Maintains a safe and therapeutic patient care environment.
5. Provides guidance and direction to members of the health care team to ensure quality patient care.
6. Keeps current on advances in nursing care by participating in educational programs.
7. Orients and educates new staff in nursing techniques and departmental procedures.
8. Provides and oversees direct patient care in accordance with established nursing protocol and physicians’ orders.
9. Utilizes knowledge of medications, procedures, infection control, and safety precaution; and initiates appropriate interventions in crisis situations.
10. Participates in total quality management to positively affect patient and system outcomes to improve care.
11. Documents patient care in the health care record according to standards.
12. Directs and delegates care to other team members.
13. Providing safe, effective, appropriate and comprehensive infusion services to oncology patients.
14. The Registered Nurse will provide clinical expertise to the remainder of the staff by:
    1. Sharing knowledge with other staff and students as appropriate. Assists with the orientation and education of staff and students. 
    2. Demonstrating ability to use critical thinking skills by assessing situation and knowing how decision making will impact patient, family, staff and others involved in patient care. This includes assessing how decisions will impact the oncoming shift.
15. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in nursing (or its equivalent) from accredited Registered Nurse Program with at least two (2) years of critical care experience.

OR

equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES:

Current BLS

Must obtain OCN certification preferred 

This position's pay range is: $35.00 – $40.25 per hour, depending on education and experience.

Discretionary bonuses, relocation expenses, merit increases, market adjustments, recognition bonuses and other forms of discretionary compensation may be paid to eligible employees based upon organizational and individual performance.
