Primary Purpose: Create and maintain the alignment of curriculum, assessment and professional development to support the success of teachers in instructional delivery and students in mastering the state standards.
Qualifications: Education/Certifcation: Master's Degree preferred in education or related field, preferred Teacher certifcation Evidence of profient teacher evaluations Evidence of increases in student achievement
Special Knowledge/Skills: Contributes to a positive culture of high expectations and increased rigor Demonstrates an ability to work collaboratively Able to build positive trusting relationships with all staff. Evidence of leadership qualities and skills Specific knowledge of appropriate grade level or speci?ed content area Knowledge of the academic development of students Ability to disaggregate and use data to drive decision making Knowledge and understanding of current research based instructional strategies
Experience: Minimum 5 years classroom teaching experience with successful performance evaluations Experience working with adult learners Experience in planning and leading professional development at the campus or district level
Major Responsibilities and Duties: The major responsibilities of the curriculum coordinator include documented activities and support such as facilitating curriculum implementation, supporting classroom instruction needs, sharing successful strategies, providing feedback to principals, supporting PLC meetings, designing and attending central office coordinated professional development and curriculum/assessment coordination.
Other Responsibilities: 1. Visits to all campuses at least weekly 2.Creates/maintains/updates district curriculum documents 3. Oversees the creation of district level assessments 4. Remains current at all times on research and best practices related to core curricula and special populations 5. Considered the district expert on content area TEKS 6. Maintains a specific focus on all things related to curriculum and instruction 7. Provides targeted PLC support to campuses 8. Assists district and campus administration in identifying campus problem areas regarding curriculum 9. Assist teachers in interpreting data 10. Leads discussions of the curriculum scope and sequence and facilitates teachers' understanding of TEKS Resource System 11. Co-teaches and models instruction as needed 12. Designs and leads professional development.
13. Collaborates with principals, individual teachers and teams of teachers 14. Supports campus and district improvement plans 15. Exhibits a high level of ethics and confidentiality in regards to student and teacher records and classroom performance

Working Conditions: Maintain emotional control under stress Frequent standing, stooping, bending Moving small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment Some extended work hours Some District and state travel required
