We are seeking an Employment Specialist to join our team! The Employment Specialist will provide all assistance necessary to enable program participants to obtain and retain competitive employment in integrated work settings.

Location: Suffolk County, NY

Position : Full time
Hours: Tuesday - Saturday (preferred) 30-hour work week
Hourly Rate: $19.00

Responsibilities :

• participates in the assessment and development of each program participant’s capabilities, training needs, and interests
• assists program participants in securing employment by supporting individuals in applying for employment, serve as a liaison between potential employer, program participant and other supports available
• provides initial training and intermittent/ongoing monitoring of participant in learning their job requirements and social skills necessary to maintain employment until the participant can work there independently
• provides route travel training and/or assist in securing alternative means of transportation to and from worksite
• maintains ongoing contact with employer to identify any problems
• maintains necessary contacts with family members, residence managers and service coordinator

Qualifications :

• 60 College Credits
• one year of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
• valid New York State Driver’s license
• excellent communication skills
• basic computer proficiency
