Job Description

A successful middle school soccer coach should possess a combination of technical soccer knowledge, coaching expertise, interpersonal skills, and a passion for youth development and sportsmanship. The ideal candidate will share our commitment to these values and possess the ability to inspire and mentor young athletes, creating an environment that encourages growth, teamwork, and a love for the game. 

Knowledge Of

The knowledge required for the position of middle school soccer coach encompasses various areas related to soccer coaching, youth development, and interpersonal skills. This includes a solid understanding of soccer coaching principles, including player development methodologies, training techniques, and tactical strategies relevant to the middle school level. Knowledge of the rules and regulations governing soccer. Familiarity with age-appropriate skill development techniques for middle school athletes, including dribbling, passing, shooting, and defensive skills, as well as methods for improving agility, speed, and endurance. Ability to assess players' abilities, strengths, and areas for improvement through observation, evaluation, and feedback. 

Effective team management practices, including roster management, lineup selection, player rotation, and communication with players, parents, and school administrators.

Responsibilities & Duties

Coaching: The middle school soccer coach will serve as a mentor and leader for student-athletes, guiding them in their personal growth and character development both on and off the field. They will lead by example, instilling values of integrity, respect, and sportsmanship while fostering a positive team culture.

Skill Development: The coach will be responsible for designing and implementing training sessions that focus on skill development, tactical understanding, and physical conditioning tailored to the middle school level. They will work to enhance players' technical abilities, decision-making skills, and overall soccer IQ, helping each athlete reach their full potential.

Team Chemistry: Building a cohesive team environment and fostering strong relationships among players will be a key aspect of the coach's role. They will promote teamwork and communication among student-athletes and create a supportive and inclusive atmosphere where every player feels valued.

Qualifications

Certification (must have or be willing to attain) 

• First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification
• NFHS Coaching Certifications

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must be 18 years old upon application.

Experience: 

• Previous coaching or playing experience in soccer is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to set up for practice and games including moving and lifting soccer nets, cones, soccer balls, and other equipment. 

Other: 

• LiveScan Background Check
• Have reliable transportation.

Job Status: Temp., 7-10 weeks, 3-8 hours per week. 

Compensation: compensation is paid over 7-10 weeks, bi-monthly

This job is for the 2024- 2025 school year, beginning in August 2024.
