Working Arrangement Hybrid Job Description The incumbent will be a key business partner to the Infrastructure and other support teams and will be primarily responsible for providing reliable and timely support and oversight on a variety of reporting deliverables and analysis for MIM’s institutional, third party infrastructure funds as well as the Manulife balance sheet portfolio. We are looking for a highly motivated professional with a financial analysis and reporting background. The position entails working with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization, and the individual will require the independent judgment to plan, prioritize, and organize a diverse workload in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be able to influence outside direct lines of accountability and across a matrix structure. The role will need to develop high levels of rapport and respect with the key members of the Infrastructure team and other relevant Shared Service Teams (Accounting & Reporting, Operations, Tax, Legal, and Business Development). Given the nature of the role which involves both financial advisory & oversight and general business support, the position will report to the COO, Infrastructure Investments. Key Accountabilities Provide financial accounting, reporting and client support to investors (General Account and third-parties) in portfolios managed by the MIM Global Infrastructure Equity Team: Individual Responsibilities: Provide oversight over the third-party clients’ external and internal financial reporting deliverables and analysis; Collaborate with relevant internal functional teams and external parties (if applicable) to address various questions or issues primarily related to financial information in the Funds’ external and internal financial reporting deliverables and analysis. Respond to requests from existing limited partners or potential investors during fundraising process Respond to ad-hoc requests from limited partners and address questions regarding quarterly/annual financial reports from limited partners, in writing and/or verbally Assist in providing direction to Operations team in preparation of client capital calls and distributions Communicate with Operations team to manage regular use of fund credit facilities; continually monitor available liquidity within Fund and coinvestment vehicles. Preparation of cash flow projections (fundings and distributions) for both General Account portfolio as well as all third party vehicles Preparation of quarterly General Account reporting of production and total returns Communicate with Investment team members and complete operational steps around closing all new portfolio investments Ensure adequate controls for Fund level expenses are in place and provide oversight for allocated expenses between affiliated accounts ensuring compliance with the Fund’s governing documents. The incumbent will provide appropriate guidance and oversight over non-recurring expenses that are subject to interpretation of the LPA or require further discussion. Participate in development of annual Infrastructure Team Expense Budget and multi-year projection to be utilized internally Participate in annual MIM Plan process as well as regular projections of Infrastructure Team profitability (revenue and expenses) to Private Markets senior management Coordinate and provide direction in moving General Account global portfolio reporting from Excel-based to Investran-based reporting Learn to fully utilize new Portfolio reporting tools (e.g. PowerBI, eFront) in order to streamline portfolio reporting for the global team (both General Account and 3P portfolios). Other duties as assigned Participate in new fund launches by interacting with the portfolio management team, legal, IT, and directly with clients as needed Assist senior Infrastructure team members with ad-hoc special projects as needed Knowledge/Skills/Competencies: BS in Accounting, Finance, or a related major, with an advanced degree or certification (such as CPA or MBA) a plus 5 years of professional experience in an alternative investment manager in an operational or financial support role An understanding of private equity investments and legal agreements Working knowledge of financial databases, preferably related to private equity investments Working knowledge with Investran, PowerBI and/or eFront if possible Advanced computer skills (especially Microsoft Excel) Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload to meet deadlines Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to articulate information and ideas effectively Demonstrated experience building and maintaining effective business relationships at all levels, both internally and externally Self-directed, analytical and able to make sound judgments About Manulife and John Hancock Manulife Financial Corporation is a leading international financial services group that helps people make their decisions easier and lives better. Primary Location Boston, Massachusetts Salary range is expected to be between $114,975.00 USD - $206,955.00 USD If you are applying for this role outside of the primary location, please contact recruitment@manulife.com for the salary range for your location. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
