Construction management company seeks civil engineer preferably with phase 1 and phase 2 direct experience on CDOT, CCDOT, IDOT and or ISHTA projects. Candidate must also possess a current IDOT construction document certificate number or have the ability to to obtain.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform data collection
• Prepare studies such as but not limited to location drainage, alternate geometric and intersection design
• Produce and submit reports such as preliminary project, public involvement and final alignment report
• Provide construction observation for milling, potholing for utilities, resurfacing and pavement patching, HMA surface removal and replacement, thermoplastic pavement marking, striping, recessed pavement markers, guardrail replacement as well as bridge, piling, intersection and roadway widening and/or replacement
• Responsible for monitoring work to ensure project is completed in accordance with state specifications, budget and schedule.
• Monitor and document contractor’s planned progress of the work, compare actual work progress and report progress, ticket calculations, field book data entry and updates to owner
• Produce and submit daily and weekly reports, as requested
• Solving variables, calculating areas, volume, proportions, percentages and circumferences using algebra, plane and solid geometry and trigonometry skills
• Ensure proper documentation of non-compliance and where procedures and materials fail to meet requirements of the project

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering

Requirements:

• Minimum of 1 year experience in roadway and/or freeway construction
• IDOT construction documentation certification
• Proficiency in Micro Station, Civil 3D, MathCAD, AutoCAD, ARCGIS, Visual Analysis and SAAP2000
• Familiarity with IDOT rules and regulations for road construction
• Demonstrated knowledge of operating a self-leveling grade level
• Demonstrated knowledge of calculating cut and fills
• Filling out a surveyor’s book
• Setting a temporary benchmark
• Strong mathematical, written and verbal communication skills
• Experience in reading and interpreting, construction documents

Preferred Qualifications:

• Illinois Construction Record System (ICOR) trained
• Experience with Cartegraph OMS, Tough book, Visual Analysis and SAAP2000
• Experience in IDOT class S-14 documentation
• Familiarity with electronic and web-based project management tools and file management systems
• Familiarity with program and/or large civil project delivery environment experience
• Experience in scheduling and estimating
