Job Description

Description:

The Surgical Suite Radiologic Technologist is responsible for operating radiographic equipment during and after a surgical procedure. Under the direction of the operating physician they provide procedural surveillance and confirmation.

Surgical Suite Radiologic Technologist Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides information to diagnose patient operating radiologic equipment to produce radiographs in the surgery suite.
  • Ensures operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Maintains radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; and verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; and advising management on needed actions..
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Prepares patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into a specified position, and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
  • Provides radiographic guidance at the direction of the operating physician
  • Observes and protects sterile environment while in the surgical procedure
  • Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols; following drug protocols in case of reactions to drugs, such as contrast media; and administering first aid and using the emergency cart.
  • Maintains production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures, developing radiographs, observing radiographic results, and making necessary adjustments.
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Equipment Duties:

  • Reports any machine failure or malfunction to the Practice Administrator
  • Cleans and stores the C Arm after each procedure

Customer Service Expectation:

  • Demonstrates customer services that is in keeping with vision of CiC.
  • Exhibits concern and compassion for all patients needs whether directly or through supportive actions with patient's family.
  • Applies the standard of practice performance to achieve positive outcome.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • ARRT and state licenses
  • Minimum 3 years' experience
  • Ability to work independently in a collaborative environment
  • Must successfully complete CME compliance training designated by CiC.
  • BLS required
  • Must maintain high patient privacy standards and adheres to HiPAA guidelines
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion
  • Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills
  • A general clinical knowledge of the services of CiC

Physical Demands:

  • Requires prolonged periods of standing
  • There will be times at which bending, reaching and occasional balancing and stooping is required
  • Frequently move/lift 50lbs
  • Good visual and auditory acuity is essential
  • Manual dexterity required often
  • Must be able to communicate effectively
  • There may be exposure to biohazards and chemicals
  • On rare occasion, you may be exposed to bodily fluids or patient conditions may be encountered.
  • Must be comfortable working in an environment that might be exposed to distressed patients, families, or visitors
  • Because of the nature of these responsibilities, this position is safety-sensitive role
