Job Description$1,000 Sign on Bonus Full Time $18.75 - $24.00Monday – Friday7:30am – 4:00 pmPierce County’s First Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic:Comprehensive Life Resources is looking for a qualified Certified Peer Counselor to join our Outreach Team in downtown Tacoma, WA.
We Offer - Medical, Dental, and Vision with 100% paid premiums for Full-Time employees, 11 paid holidays, 403(b)-retirement plan, mileage reimbursement, Tuition Assistance, Paid Sick leave, Continuing education programs, and Health club reimbursement!!Function: Through lived experience provide advocacy, case management, and support to individuals accessing housing support through the Forensic HARPS Program with the intention of reducing homelessness and supporting individuals in their recovery. Serves as a member of the organization that welcomes, engages, and serves individuals with complex wellness needs.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide case management with an emphasis on enhancing access to and retention in permanent supported housing.
  • Certified Peers will draw on common experiences as a person with lived experience to validate participants experiences and to provide empowerment, guidance, and encouragement to participants to take responsibility and actively engage in their own recovery.
  • Provide education and advocacy around understanding culture-wide stigma and discrimination against people with mental illness and develop strategies to eliminate stigma and support participation in consumer self-help programs and consumer advocacy organizations that promote recovery
  • Teach symptom management techniques and promote personal growth and development by assisting clients to cope with internal and external stresses
  • Coordinate services with other mental health and allied providers
  • Coordinate with Housing Navigator to assist participants in finding and maintaining a safe and affordable place to live including locating roommates, cleaning, furnishing, and decorating and procuring necessities
  • Assist participants in identifying the type and location of housing with an exploration of access to natural supports and the avoidance of triggers
  • Assist participants in accessing financial support such as government benefits and housing subsidies
  • Assist participants in accessing vocational training and supports
  • Assist participants in activities of daily living
  • Assist participants with increasing positive interpersonal relationships that support recovery
  • Maintain clinical records and provide data and reports, as may be required for program monitoring and evaluation, in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Be available for consult and crisis outreach as appropriate or needed.
  • Perform health and safety checks of apartments as required.
  • Be a part of a multi-disciplinary team to coordinate services. This includes attending regular team meetings, consultations, and trainings as needed or required.
  • Ensure that ethical and professional standards of practice are maintained.
  • In addition to the above, perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Must be a Certified Peer Support Specialist with an active credential with the Department of Health
  • Must have ability to obtain Agency Affiliation Credential from Department of Health
  • Must have computer/technology skills
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize deadlines, work independently, take initiative, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license; proof of insurance.
