Job Position: Perfusionist

Contract based of 13 weeks

Shift Information: One week on, One week off. Meaning on call and work 7 days 24/7 then off 7 days. Hours and days subject to change if need be.

Job Description

• Obtains required patient information according to standard operating procedure.

Manages blood gases, hematocrit, acid-base balance, fluid and electrolyte balance, and anticoagulation/procoagulation of the

patient’s blood under the supervision of the cardiothoracic surgeon and in accordance with established standard of perfusion

care.

• Communicates any special needs required for specific perfusion cases to the appropriate departments.

• Performs intra-aortic balloon pumping and autologous blood recovery according to standard operating procedures.

Administers cardioplegic solutions, blood and blood products, IV fluids, medications and anesthetics during extracorporeal

circulation, as prescribed by, and under the direct supervision of the cardiothoracic surgeon.

• Completes an accurate perfusion care record with documentation done.

• Performs Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation initiation

• Performs TAVR standby

• Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

Certifications:

• Cardiovascular Perfusionist - Certified | American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion | Within 12 Months of Start Date | HR.
