Job Description:

• The Power BI Developer for Continuous Service Improvement (CSI) is a critical member of the Technical Operations team.
• They are responsible for building and maintaining dashboards, identifying potential KPIs based on available data, and performing analytical and interpretive analysis of existing data to help highlight trends and opportunities for improvement.
• This role will apply expertise in building dashboards across multiple platforms (Power BI, Grafana, etc.), manipulation of data in tools like Excel, and partnership with key data/reporting stakeholders and partners to ensure the CSI program is providing meaningful insights while not replicating or contradicting other available reports.

Responsibilities:

• Grasp and Interpret Business Needs:
• Understand the organization’s business intelligence requirements. This includes technology partners who are responsible for providing the data.
• Translate these requirements into actionable data models and visualizations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with business goals.
• Design and Map Data Models:
• Create data models that transform raw data into meaningful insights.
• Utilize Power BI to build interactive dashboards and visually appealing reports.
• Perform data cleansing, transformation, and manipulation to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
• Develop Interactive Dashboards and Reports:
• Design and develop Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into data visualization solutions.
• Optimize report performance and data refresh schedules.
• Data Integration and Visualization:
• Extract, cleanse, and transform data from various sources.
• Create visually engaging reports and dashboards using Power BI.
• Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and monitor them consistently5.
• Ensure Data Security and Compliance:
• Implement security measures to protect sensitive data.
• Adhere to data privacy regulations and compliance standards.
• Troubleshoot and Optimize Solutions:
• Address any issues related to data visualization, performance, or functionality.
• Optimize Power BI solutions for efficiency and usability.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers and Analysts:
• Work closely with data engineers to acquire, clean, and transform data.
• Collaborate with data analysts to define data requirements for visualization and analysis.

Top Skills required (absolutely must have):

• Power BI: Candidates must have 3 years’ experience developing Power BI solutions using data modeling concepts to design efficient data structures to create reports & dashboards.
• SQL: Must have experience with SQL for data manipulation & extraction. Including writing SQL queries to retrieve and transform data from databases.
• DAX: Familiarity with DAX for creating calculations and custom measures in Power BI. Ability to write complex DAX expressions to enhance data analysis.
• Scripting and Programming: Familiarity with scripting and programming languages (e.g., Python) will be beneficial. Ability to automate tasks and enhance Power BI solutions using scripts.

Preferred Qualifications (desired yet not absolutely required):

• ITIL: ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) is a framework for IT service management. It provides best practices for managing IT services, including processes like change management, incident management, and problem management. Understanding ITIL fundamentals can be beneficial in technical operations roles.
• ITSM: IT service management (ITSM) focuses on delivering and managing IT services effectively. In technical operations, having knowledge of ITSM principles can help streamline processes, improve service quality, and enhance customer satisfaction.
• Six Sigma: Six Sigma is a methodology aimed at improving process efficiency and reducing defects. While not strictly required, having Six Sigma knowledge demonstrates a commitment to continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making.
• Technical Operations: Prior experience in network administration or system administration provides valuable insights into managing technical infrastructure.

• Excellent communication and relationship skills, especially the ability to articulate advanced technical topics to both technical and non-technical staff.
• Must have ability to articulate business issues/concerns with staff, peers, superiors, and outside parties while major incident calls.
