The current duties and responsibilities of a Level III technician / Low Voltage technician are
listed below.
The Level III technician is responsible for administering all facets of a client’s network
connectivity, including the routing of the Wide Area Network (WAN) from the Internet Service
Provider (ISP) to the client router, switch configuration and routing, ethernet jack placement,
patch panel routing, and ethernet cable placement and routing.
The Level III technician should have experience in working with servers including setup,
configuration, troubleshooting hardware / software issues and hardware replacement.
The Level III technician should have experience in backup solutions. Experience working with NAS
and Cloud Storage installation and restoration is preferred. The Level III technician manages
client backups, including data and email.
The Level III technician is responsible for administering all facets of a client’s virtual and
wireless network connectivity, including site-to-site virtual private network (VPN) configuration,
wireless network configuration, and Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) configuration and routing.
Experience working with firewalls, switches, and WiFi equipment is desired.
The Level III technician is responsible for administering all facets of a client’s network
security, including firewall configuration and management, Network Address Translation (NAT) policy
configuration and implementation, Internet Protocol (IP) address restriction, password policy
management, antivirus management and policy creation, hard drive encryption, email encryption, and
physical security of all devices.
The Level III technician provides support for client hardware, including servers, workstations,
wireless Access Points (APs), switches, patch panels, ethernet cable management, racks, battery
backups, Network Attached Storage (NAS), phone servers, phones, and administers the Active
Directory environment, including group policy management, organizational unit configuration, and
user account management.
The Level III technician should have extensive knowledge and experience working with Windows based
systems including setup, troubleshoot hardware / software issues, hardware replacement. Mac
Experience Is Also Preferred But Not Required.The Level III technician should have experience working with phone systems including setup,
configuration, troubleshooting VoIP systems.
The Level III technician provides consulting with regards to recommended network changes to
hardware and software. In addition, the Level III technician provides support for third party
applications for the client. The Level III technician facilitates third party support by serving as
a proxy on behalf of the client.
The Level III technician supports advanced configurations of Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks
(RAID), iLO and iDRAC on client servers.
The Level III technician supports all remote clients by configuring virtual private networks (VPNs)
on their remote devices and ensuring connectivity back to the corporate network.
The Level III technician should have experience or the ability to learn IP camera systems, Alarm
Systems, and Door Access Controls, including setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.
The Level III technician should have some experience in cabling including basic network cabling and
termination.
Other duties may be assigned as necessary and appropriate.

The Essential Functions.Education
The Level III Tech should have a minimum of 4 years of formal training in a related field
(technical school or service training) plus, A certification or other formal certification AND 2
years related work experience. If this requirement is not met, the Level II tech can meet the
educational requirements if they have 2 plus years formal training / education in a related field
(Information Systems, Networking, Programming, Computer Science, etc.) and a minimum of 4 years
related work experience or multiple certifications (MCSE, Cisco, A , etc.)
Language Skills
The individual should have the ability to read and interpret documents such as telecommunications
solutions and invoices, scopes of work, hardware manuals and technical literature The individual
should also have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and the ability to
translate technical information to customers, vendors and other co-workers.
Mathematical Skills
The individual should have the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts,
interest, commissions and proportions. The individual should also be able to apply concepts of
basic algebra.
Reasoning Ability
The individual will be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid
conclusions. The individual should also have the ability to interpret a variety of technical
instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
