CTG's premier client has a contract assignment for a Desktop Patch Technician

Type: Contract

Job Title: Desktop Patch Technician

Location: Painted Post, NY

*Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Painted Post, NY*

Pay Rate: Based on experience

Work Hours: M-F 8am-5pm

Education: AS degree in Computer Repair, or relevant field preferred, but not required

A successful candidate in this position will possess strong soft skills as well as

  • 3 years’ experience as computer technician or similar role

Description

Qualified Lab Computer Technician to install, maintain and repair laboratory computer data acquisition systems and networks. The technician must be well-versed in computer systems and network functions. The ideal candidate for this position has a strong understanding of desktop and laptop operating systems, routinely thinks outside the box to solve problems quickly and is able to provide excellent customer service. The candidate will be able to provide technical assistance and troubleshooting skills for computer systems as well as answer questions or resolve computer problems for clients in person, via telephone or from remote location. The goal is to install and maintain high quality computer and data acquisition systems for Science and Technology Laboratories.

Requirements:

  • Provide technical assistance and resolution as necessary
  • Set up hardware and install and configure software and drivers
  • Maintain and repair computer systems connected to data acquisition systems and lab
  • instruments.
  • Perform regular upgrades to ensure systems remain updated
  • Troubleshoot system failures or bugs and provide solutions to restore functionality
  • Troubleshoot system local and group policy issues in Microsoft Active Directory
  • Arrange maintenance sessions to discover and mend inefficiencies
  • Keep records of repairs and fixes for future reference
  • Ensure that Internet security software is updated and running properly
  • Manage security options and software in computers and networks to maintain privacy and
  • protection from attacks
  • Test and implement new software programs for the company

Required Qualifications

Education

  • AS degree in Computer Repair, or relevant field preferred, but not required

Required Skills:

  • Strong understanding of Microsoft operating systems
  • Excellent PC troubleshooting skills
  • Able to read and understand technical manuals
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects effectively
  • Experience with LAN/WAN networks
  • Thorough knowledge of computer systems and IT components
  • Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles

Desired Skills:

  • Relevant certifications (e.g. CompTIA A ) will be an advantage
  • MS Active Directory management
  • Computer hardware and data acquisition systems interfacing skills.

Soft Skills:

  • Very good communication abilities
  • Exceptional organizing and time-management skills
  • Able to work with customers to understand requirements and implement solutions

Other Requirements:

  • Proficient in time management and task prioritization
  • Advanced Level of English Language
  • Effective organization and planning skills, with ability to handle changing priorities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work in team environment and motivate others
