Concessions International is Hiring a Human Resources Manager - Concessions International - Seattle Airport Near Seattle, WA

POSITION SUMMARY
Provides overall management and administration of the functional areas of human resources for a high-volume food service operation. Responsibilities include but are not limited to recruiting, employee relations, Union environment, performance management, regulatory compliance, worker's compensation for Washington Labor and Industry regulations and compliance, compensation, benefits, and training. Works closely with location operations management to develop plans and programs to meet the current and future needs of the business. Human Resource administers human resources policies, programs, and practices: including planning, organizing, managing implementing, coordinating programs to ensure continuous growth, development, and profitability for the company.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Manages human resources programs in cooperation company requirements. Works with operations management to meet needs of business goals. Makes recommendations to adapt to changes in plans, such as airport shutdowns, opening of new units, changes in customer volume, etc.
  2. Plans, organizes, and manage activities of the assigned HR function and participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  3. Manages recruiting programs and initiatives to ensure appropriate staffing levels report on trends, collaborates with management to understand skills and competencies required for openings. Manage onboarding process - lead new hire orientation process to drive employee engagement and positive work environment.
  4. Provides guidance and coaching to managers on employee relations and performance management related issues and recommends appropriate resolutions when the need arises. Train managers on various HR-related and leadership programs.
  5. Manage and maintains effective labor relations in union operations through relationship management.
  6. Oversees and conducts investigations and in accordance with company policy and makes recommendation based on outcome. Ensures compliance with Company policies and practices and local, state, and federal guidelines on employment related matters. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  7. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulatory changes, reviews policies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  8. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, and new technologies in human resources, and recommended best practices.
  9. Support the development of written employee communications, including employee handbooks and new hire orientation materials. Manages communication to support positive employee relations.
  10. Evaluates reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to affect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  11. Ensure training needs for all employees are being met and are consistent with company standards.
  12. Coordinate benefits communication and confirm eligibility, communicate notices, track absences to ensure documentation is complete and compliant. Coordinate and monitor Workers Compensation program for designed locations.
  13. Ensure accuracy and integrity of Human Resource records including personnel files, benefit enrollment forms, E-Verify and I-9 documentation.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Assists with project planning for opening of new locations; evaluates needs and makes staffing recommendations.
  2. Completes badge audits, ad hoc reports, staffing reports, turnover reports, and other similar reports monthly or upon request.
  3. Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other similar meetings.
  4. Maintains company organization charts.
QUALIFICATIONS
The qualifications listed below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this position.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in field at a management level with substantial responsibility for employee relations, recruiting, safety, labor and union relations, benefits, and general HR administration; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
PHR and/or SHRM-SCP preferred; experience in union environment strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Current working knowledge of Washington state employment laws including federal, state, and local, with the ability to handle situations related to these laws.
  • Thorough knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to maintain positive of union relations.
  • Proactive in identifying and addressing needs of department and other internal customers, providing solutions which are timely and effective.
  • Approachable demeanor with advanced verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels, customers and/or others as required.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Suite, UltiPro (HRIS/Payroll software), ability to build and run queries, ability to prepare letters, spreadsheets, presentations, and/or other documents as required. Ability to enter data with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, internal customers, and the public.
  • Ability to handle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be detail oriented and organized.
  • Strong analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills; ability to resolve conflict and deliver results.
  • Strong interpersonal, team building and leadership skills; ability to collaborate and work effectively with others.
  • Demonstrated ability in employee development.
  • Working knowledge of Union environment preferred.
  • PHR or SHRM-SCP preferred.
