This mission-driven nonprofit in DC seeks an energetic, positive, collaborative Assistant to support their highly-respected leader. This temp-to-hire opportunity provides general administrative support to the President and assists with numerous projects across various functional areas. Ideal candidate will be available immediately to interview and start working, and bring two years of relevant administrative support experience, ideally in a nonprofit.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide administrative support to the President, to include calendar management and
coordination of internal and external meetings.
2. Provide general administrative and clerical support to the President and relevant staff as
directed by the President to support the mission of the organization. This includes mailing;
preparing and modifying documents; handling internal and external correspondence;
making travel arrangements; and coordinating virtual calls.
3. Work in collaboration with colleagues on various activities, including
working directly with the Board of Directors.
4. Participate in the planning, coordination, and implementation of the annual events,
including the Annual Conference, Policy Seminar, and Board of Directors meetings.
5. Research specific topics related to higher education matters (e.g., financial aid, college
admissions, wellness, etc.).
6. Responsible for ensuring office supplies are inventoried and replenished.
7. Other duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
· Demonstrated experience successfully using Microsoft Office applications.
· Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
· Experience collaborating cross-functionally and interacting effectively with employers,
students, alumni, and university personnel.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Proficiency in computer database software, spreadsheets, and word processing and the ability to understand integrated computer systems (e.g., Microsoft 365, Asana).
Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication; collaborating cross-functionally and interacting effectively with team members, students, alumni, and other constituents; organizing information and projects; problem-solving; adhering to deadlines; taking initiative; adaptability; proactive outreach; and interpersonal and customer service.
Ability to plan and manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously and balance priorities under time constraints, while maintaining strong attention to detail; communicate effectively both orally and in written form; work well under pressure, meet deadlines; manage confidential and sensitive information; and exercise strong judgement and discretion in dealing with confidential matters.
