About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) for its Emergency Medicine department. The COO will be a key member of the department's leadership team, with a broad scope of responsibilities including oversight of all administrative operations, strategic and programmatic development, and financial and risk mitigation activities. This role involves close collaboration with the department chair to establish and achieve strategic goals, drive operational efficiency, and ensure a climate of accountability. The successful candidate will also be involved in evaluating and pursuing strategic business opportunities in conjunction with university or health system units.Applicants for the COO position should have a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) and at least 8 years' of progressively responsible management experience, including executive-level roles. The COO will be expected to have a patient-centered mindset, the ability to navigate ambiguous situations, and a proven track record of managing budgets and project development. Key responsibilities include setting department-wide strategy, providing governance support, and overseeing a range of administrative functions. The ideal candidate will be a clear communicator, highly transparent, and adept at interacting with leaders, faculty, staff, and patients in a positive manner. Experience in areas such as growth and expansion, launching freestanding emergency departments, and managing financial information systems is highly valued.
