Confidential is Hiring a Remote Construction Estimator (Hybrid Remote)

The Estimator prepares cost estimates based on the project, relevant laws, and current market conditions, primarily utilizing internet-based tools supplemented with onsite visits. This position requires a strong understanding of the construction process, associated costs, and the relevant laws (such as SB 721, SB 326, etc). The accurate scope, samples, and similar items created by the role are fundamental to the success of the Operations team. Duties and Responsibilities This position works with the Administrative Coordinator and Vice President of Operations to ensure estimates are prioritized correctly and delivered on time and to client specification. 1. Review project information, utilizing Google Earth, Google Maps, and other website sources for information and photos. Review project plans, requirements, site maps, client counts, specifications, and addenda (if any). 2. Ensure project data collected during the Estimating process is entered into Monday.com in an accurate and prompt way. 3. Create accurate takeoffs and detailed bid proposals for various scopes of work, utilizing Microsoft Excel. 4. Create an accurate labor budget and timeline for project completion to aid the Operations team in proper execution. 5. Provide evidence-supported updates and suggestions for the Estimating process, including spreadsheet changes and cost updates (labor and material). 6. Reconcile cost estimates with actual project costs, otherwise known as job costing. Estimator is expected to update the Estimating process when budget and actuals diverge in any significant direction. 7. Visit potential projects, or manage the visit by others, to ensure accurate estimates are produced. 8. Train Administrative, or other help as assigned, to support the takeoff process. 9. Provide data for proper hand-off from Estimating to Operations, such as the “Pre-Inspection Briefing” form or similar. 10. Put together accurate Change Orders as needed for the Operations team. 11. Discuss and/or present estimates with Clients, whether in-person, virtually, or over the phone. This includes speaking at HOA meetings, for example. Accountabilities 1. Estimate accuracy: Estimates are accurate with regards to costs, including material, labor, and vendors, and meet department margin expectations. While reviewing individual estimates has great value, this will typically be reviewed from a department level. 2. Estimate efficiency: Estimates are turned around according to department expectations. 3. Operations support: The Operations team is set up for success based on the estimate scopes built and hand-offs performed.

Estimator Job Description Authority 1. The Estimator manages the administrative personnel temporarily assigned to their project(s) (if any) and the Estimator’s feedback on their performance will be weighed heavily by the associated direct manager. 2. The Estimator may assign job walks to appropriate field and office staff as-needed. 3. The Estimator has full control of the final pricing of an estimate; for example, providing a discount to Clients at an opportune time. The Estimator should note accountability #1 above, though. Qualifications Knowledge o An understanding of SB721, SB326, and similar laws. o Able to read and understand all types of construction drawings. o Familiarity with construction, especially framing and waterproofing is a plus. Skills o Intermediate or higher Excel proficiency is required. o Monday.com or similar software experience preferred. o Strong mathematical skills needed. o Light people management skills expected. Traits o Organized and detail oriented. o Proactively seeks information; provides solutions instead of problems. o Strong time management.
