About the Role

The Company is seeking a Director of Data Platform to play a pivotal role in leading the data team and integrating data initiatives with the technical infrastructure and product strategies. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the professional development of a team of skilled professionals, aligning their work with business goals, and fostering collaboration across various departments. This role involves overseeing data engineering efforts, guiding the development and operationalization of ML models, and driving alignment between data initiatives and business objectives. The Director will also be expected to manage and mentor the team, ensuring high performance, growth, and effective collaboration, while maintaining high standards of quality, including security and data privacy.Applicants for the Director of Data Platform position at The Company should have a strong background in platform engineering, with secondary expertise in data science and engineering. Proficiency in SQL, Python, AWS services, and distributed systems is essential, with competence in additional tools such as Databricks, dbt, Go, TypeScript, Datadog, and Terraform being highly desirable. The role requires a proven track record in team management and mentorship, as well as experience in coaching and implementing Lean and DevOps practices. A strategic mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to balance innovation with risk management and technical possibilities are also key attributes. Familiarity with data privacy regulations and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams are important for this position.
