About the Role
The Company is seeking an Executive Director for its Art Museum, a role that demands a visionary and dynamic museum professional. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Museum and ensuring outstanding exhibitions, collections, research, visual arts education, and exceptional visitor experiences for both the university and the local community. The Executive Director will play a pivotal role in the Museum's active educational engagement, including hosting class visits, curating curriculum-focused exhibitions, and overseeing a Faculty Fellows Program. Additionally, the role involves collaboration with faculty to integrate object-based teaching and research into diverse academic departments.The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive artistic vision and the ability to champion the importance of the visual arts, arts education, curatorial practice, and scholarship. They will be the public advocate and ambassador for the Museum, fostering strong relationships with the Advisory Board, the university community, and broader arts constituents. With a collection of over 45,000 objects spanning 5,500 years and a recent focus on enhancing diversity, including contemporary works by Black and Indigenous artists, the Executive Director will be at the forefront of redefining the role of an academic museum in the 21st century. This role requires a leader who can secure the Museum's position as an innovative leader and ensure its accessibility and relevance to the local community and beyond.
