About the Role

The Executive Director, Audit is a key leadership role within the Audit Bureau, responsible for managing a unit of 25-40 professionals. The role involves direct oversight of Audit Managers and their teams, ensuring that all projects are well-planned, designed to meet objectives, and executed in a manner that is compliant with relevant standards. The Executive Director is also tasked with engaging stakeholders to promote transparency and accountability, mentoring staff to meet strategic objectives, and ensuring that the Bureau's policies and procedures are adhered to. The position requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least 5 years' of experience, with a preference for candidates with a background in managing teams involved in performance audits, compliance work, or program evaluation, particularly within the public sector.Candidates for the Executive Director, Audit position should possess a baccalaureate degree in accounting, business administration, finance, management, engineering, or a related field, and have a minimum of 5 years' of experience, with at least 18 months in a managerial or executive capacity. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing teams, preferably of 10 or more, and be adept at critical thinking, analysis, and presenting evidence effectively. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Government Accounting Standards (GAGAS) is essential, as is the ability to inspire teams, work collaboratively, and engage with senior stakeholders. The role demands a leader who can ensure that audit and other reports are impactful and promote positive change, while also upholding the values of transparency and integrity in the audit process.
