About the Role

The Company is seeking an Executive Director of Teaching & Learning to provide leadership and advocate for equity in education. The successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting and executing the policies and expectations of the State Board of Education, overseeing and administering programs within the departments of Educator Effectiveness, Standards & Instruction, and CTE, and serving as a liaison between these departments. This role involves representing the State Board of Education to various educational entities and the public, developing and recommending policies to improve instructional services, and creating systems for professional development. The Executive Director will also work on developing grants, contracts, and budgets to support teacher recruitment and will be tasked with creating a five-year plan to close the achievement gap for special education students, English language learners, and African American students.Applicants must have a Master's degree in Education or Educational Leadership, a minimum of three to five years of administrative/supervisory/leadership experience, and a proven track record in managing professional development initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, a decisive leader, and possess strong leadership development skills. A Ph.D. or Ed.D. is preferred, as well as experience as a building principal or in a central office administrative role. The role requires a candidate with high integrity, familiarity with current trends in P-12 education, and the ability to motivate and lead others. The Executive Director will be expected to think creatively, communicate effectively, and work towards improving student learning outcomes, particularly for vulnerable student populations.
