About the Role

The Company is seeking an Executive Director of Legal Affairs to oversee and manage all legal matters related to the cancer center. The successful candidate will be responsible for the performance of the Office of Legal Affairs, with a focus on industry-sponsored clinical trials, and will supervise the legal staff. This role involves representing the cancer center in legal issues, particularly in collaborations with other university offices and entities. The Executive Director will also collaborate with and advise the faculty on legal aspects of their relationships with industry, especially in the areas of technology development and clinical trial performance. Applicants must have a J.D. degree and at least 5 to 7 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with a strong background in contract negotiation and intellectual property protection in the biomedicine sector. The role requires an understanding of clinical trial legal contracting and the ability to safeguard the company's intellectual property interests. The Executive Director will be a key member of the cancer center's Executive Management team and will coordinate with various research offices both within the company and externally. The ideal candidate for the Executive Director of Legal Affairs position at the company will have a legal background with a focus on biomedicine, particularly in the context of cancer research. Experience in structuring, drafting, and negotiating complex research collaborations, as well as various legal agreements where intellectual property interests are at stake, is essential. The role demands a professional who can work effectively with industry and academic partners, and who can manage a wide range of legal responsibilities for the benefit of the cancer center.
