About the Role
The Company is seeking a Major Gifts Officer to join their dedicated team. The successful candidate will be instrumental in elevating major gift support, with a focus on the institution's mission of connecting people to the city's history and each other. This role involves working closely with senior management, Trustees, and other stakeholders to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors and high-level volunteers. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of development experience, a proven track record in major gift cultivation, and a passion for the history of the city. Responsibilities also include managing a portfolio of donors, setting and achieving fundraising goals, and contributing to a donor-centered culture that aligns with the values of the institution.Applicants for the Major Gifts Officer position at the company should possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and demonstrate exceptional communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills. The role requires the ability to be both creative and strategic in donor engagement, as well as a high level of emotional intelligence to build meaningful relationships. Experience in the Chicago philanthropic community is preferred, and familiarity with donor databases, particularly Altru, is a plus.
