About the Role

The Company is seeking a Managing Director for Major Gifts in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Development team. The successful candidate will be a leader, resource, and mentor for a team of Assistant Director level fundraising professionals, and will be responsible for managing all aspects of their day-to-day activities. This includes creating effective prospect strategies, ensuring gift officers are on track towards their goals, and fostering a culture of learning and development. The role also involves collaborating with the Donor Development team to assess training needs and implement individualized plans for the education and professional development of gift officers. The Managing Director will manage a small portfolio of prospects and lead the development and execution of strategies for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding relationships with donors.Basic qualifications for this position include a Bachelor's degree, a minimum of 8 years' experience in university fundraising or relevant transferable experience, and the ability to travel approximately 35% of working days. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in major gift fundraising, experience in managing a team, and a proven track record of successful donor cultivation. They should be a strategic thinker, a strong collaborator, and have the ability to work effectively with colleagues across the FAS Development team. A passion for the mission of the faculty and the ability to contribute to a culture of celebration, innovation, and best practices are essential.
