Key Responsibilities: • Manage the day-to-day accounting functions for a portfolio of properties, including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting. • Ensure accurate and timely completion of month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliation of bank accounts, posting of journal entries, and preparation of financial statements. • Coordinate with property managers and leasing teams to review and analyze lease agreements, ensuring proper accounting treatment for rent revenue, operating expenses, and tenant reimbursements. • Perform variance analysis to identify discrepancies and trends, and provide recommendations for improving operational efficiency and financial performance. • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts for each property, collaborating with stakeholders to develop realistic financial goals and objectives. • Maintain compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls, and assist with audits as needed. • Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and industry best practices, and implement necessary updates to accounting policies and procedures. • Mentor and train junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support to foster their professional development.
Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or equivalent certification preferred. • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, ideal real estate accounting experience. • Proficiency in accounting software such as Quickbooks and Yardi; advanced Excel skills are essential. • Strong understanding of GAAP and familiarity with real estate accounting principles, including CAM reconciliations, lease accounting, and property valuation. • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights to management. • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders. • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. • Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff members is a plus.
