Title: Supportive Caregiver for Autistic Individual

Job Description:

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to provide daily support and care for an individual with high-functioning autism. This position can be either live-in or non-live-in, and we are open to hiring multiple caregivers to accommodate full-time or part-time schedules. The role involves assisting with daily living needs, fostering independence, and facilitating personal growth in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities:

• Prompting/providing meals three times per day at appropriate eating times, based on the individual's sleep schedule.
• Regular assistance with personal hygiene, grooming, and clothing changes.
• Helping prepare for sessions/appointments and accompanying when necessary.
• Providing emotional support during times of need, including illness or menstruation.
• Teaching and assisting with basic household chores, including laundry, cleaning, and tidying up.
• Establishing routines for maintaining a clean and organized living space.
• Managing medical needs and ensuring medications are taken as prescribed.
• Assisting with time management and creating schedules for daily activities.
• Facilitating social interactions and encouraging participation in social activities.
• Teaching budgeting skills and money management techniques.
• Providing advocacy and communication support with service providers, employers, and others.
• Offering guidance and instruction on various life skills, such as problem-solving and decision-making.
• Researching and identifying local community resources, services, and activities for development and interests.
• Accompanying to community events and activities to facilitate comfort and social interactions.
• Ensuring emergency preparedness and addressing any specific medical needs.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities..
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support personal growth and independence.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt to the individual's unique needs and preferences.
• Willingness to learn and implement strategies for supporting autism spectrum disorders.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
