Title Abstractors research all documents and activities affecting ownership of properties. This work includes but is not limited to, sifting through public records, often in a county clerk’s office, for mentions of things like liens, bankruptcies, or land boundaries.
Job description
· Examine and verify titles
· Search real estate records
· Summarize legal or insurance documents
· Compile lists of mortgages, contracts, and other instruments pertaining to titles by searching public and private records.
· Examine deeds, deeds of trust, liens, judgments, easements, and plats/maps to determine ownership, encumbrances, and to verify legal descriptions of property
· Prepare handwritten title reports
· Examine title reports from outside abstractors
Requirements
· At least 1 year of Real Estate Abstracting or related experience.
· Team player
· Optimism
· High school diploma or GED
