Confidential is Hiring a Vice President of Human Resources Near Grand Rapids, MI

We are looking for a Vice President of Human Resources to support a dynamic team and growing manufacturing company. This person will provide executive-level leadership and guidance to the organization’s HR operations, Learning and Development, Talent Management, Shared Services, and EHS. The Vice President is responsible for setting, enforcing, and evaluating legally compliant Human Resources policies, procedures, and best practices, and identifying and implementing long-range strategic talent management goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Support plants’ human resource operations, startup and launch activities involving labor and manufacturing-related pressure environments
  • Provide input on Learning and Development programs to ensure the company has the capabilities to achieve performance objectives, including supporting other management team members in adapting their teams to the organization growth and changes
  • Building and following through on the Human Resources goals and budgets
  • Keep team informed on all relevant information; responsible for managing all HR aspects of their team including their professional development and annual performance reviews and participation in recruitment
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to define the organization’s long-term mission and goals; identify ways to support this mission through talent management
  • Collaborate with management to continuously improve the performance management system by establishing managing to performance expectations, provide ongoing feedback and coaching, and effectively link performance to rewards
  • Ensure the compensation and benefits strategy is aligned with and supportive of the company’s business strategy, goals, objectives, and culture
  • Work in collaboration with the finance and legal departments in ensuring appropriate funding and compliance of the compensation and benefits program
  • Oversee employee relations and ensure a work environment offering equal employment opportunity, inclusion, diversity, fairness, and consistency in the treatment of employees, effective communications between management and employees and effective dispute resolution
  • Ensure the values of the company are communicated and understood at all levels and provide clarity as to the expected behavior of all employees
  • Oversee compliance of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) to region laws and propose new systems to improve tracking methods of employee data
  • Provide leadership and strategy for consultation, collective bargaining, negotiations, union contract administration, grievance handling, arbitrations, communications, and compliance with applicable labor laws
  • Provide leadership to ensure employee health, safety, and security through establishment of policies and practices
  • Ensure the alignment of workforce performance with corporate objectives, understand employee concerns through employee surveys and focus groups, and educate employees regarding changes in Human Resources policies and benefits
  • Propose continuous improvement ideas in business efficiency and cost reduction
  • Capitalize on knowledge and shares best practices / lessons learned across organization and within the site
  • Travel to company manufacturing sites is expected to be 20%-30% with more intensive support as needed, including but not limited to launch activities, collective bargaining negotiations and related development, or other change management

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with specialization in Human Resources Management required; Master’s degree with specialization in Human Resources Management preferred
  • Minimum 15 years of HR experience & a minimum 10 years of management experience with at least 5 years at senior management level
  • PHR Certification or three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Basic understanding of HIPPA compliance
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Union relations and labor laws strongly preferred (UAW)
  • Previous experience in an automotive manufacturing environment strongly preferred
  • Establish and communicate company policies to prevent non-compliance with the law
  • Awareness of local and nationwide economic situation to effectively recruit and retain associates
  • Strong written and oral communication with the ability to communicate efficiently with all levels of management, co-workers, and subordinates
  • Strong conflict resolution skills
  • Strong sense of/treatment of confidentiality and Ethical Practices
  • Demonstrated expertise in key HR disciplines including the area of; attraction and retention, alignment and performance management, compensation and benefits, and training and development
  • Able to inspire, influence, and develop other people
  • Is thorough, accurate, and reliable when performing and completing job tasks; demonstrates honesty and integrity in all aspects of work
  • Takes positive action to objectively resolve conflict by listening, staying focused on issue to find resolution, and monitoring progress
  • Maintains positive relationships by constructively resolving conflicts
  • Uses feedback from others to continuously improve performance and work relationships
  • Moves within own or other work areas (flexes) to support plant flow
  • Works with sense of urgency to meet needs of customers

This position reports directly to the CEO and will be located in Grand Rapids, MI.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $175,000.00 - $230,000.00 per year
