About the Role

The Company is seeking a Vice President of Land Conservation to lead the development and execution of strategies that align with the organization's mission. The successful candidate will be a subject matter expert in conservation-related issues, with a focus on land use, greenway planning, and ecosystem impact. This role involves creating and implementing a master conservation plan, identifying and recommending conservation targets, and engaging in deal structuring and negotiation to secure the best conservation agreements. The Vice President will also be responsible for operations, fundraising, and overseeing the Land Protection team, ensuring the legal compliance of all land protection activities, and actively contributing to senior-level organizational planning and decision-making.Applicants must have a minimum of ten years of professional or managerial experience in relevant fields, a comprehensive knowledge of land protection methods, and a proven track record in creating and negotiating real estate transactional contracts. The role requires excellent communication skills, including the ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders and to represent the organization in a professional and expert manner. Familiarity with federal tax laws related to charitable gifts and experience in digital mapping and strategic conservation planning is also essential. A Juris Doctor (JD) is preferred but not required. The position demands a high level of emotional intelligence, the ability to lead a team, and a commitment to the values of conservation and sustainability.
