About the Role

The Company is seeking a dynamic Opinion Editor to lead its editorial department in a time of significant transformation. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall direction and day-to-day operations of the department, leading a team to create, solicit, and curate compelling opinion pieces that matter to the audience and the state. This role requires a deft writer and editor with a keen eye for great content, who is comfortable working in various mediums, including video and audio. The Opinion Editor will have the opportunity to reimagine the structure and focus of the opinion team, setting a vision that drives the most dynamic and engaging opinion content in the region.Key responsibilities include providing strong leadership to the editorial staff, formulating editorial policy positions, leading editorial meetings, creating a daily editorial schedule, and representing the company at public events. The ideal candidate will have experience as an editorial writer or in public-policy analysis, a Bachelor's degree, and preferably, reporting and editing experience. Management experience is also preferred. A commitment to soliciting and developing commentary from diverse voices is essential, as is the ability to work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and senior executives across the company. The Opinion Editor will play a vital role in driving the company's vision to create the leading model for local news in America, with a focus on innovation in media to benefit the community.
