Job SummaryThe Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides essential support to patients and healthcare professionals by assisting with daily living activities, monitoring patient health, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for patients in various healthcare settings, such as hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities.
Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Care:
Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating.
Monitor and report changes in patients’ physical and emotional conditions to the nursing staff.
Provide companionship and emotional support to patients.
Vital Signs And Health MonitoringMeasure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration.
Assist with routine medical tests and procedures as directed by healthcare professionals.
Assisting Healthcare ProfessionalsSupport registered nurses and other healthcare professionals in delivering care.
Prepare and maintain patient rooms, including changing linens and ensuring cleanliness.
Assist with patient mobility and transfers, including using assistive devices as needed.
Documentation And CommunicationAccurately document patient care and observations in patient records.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to provide updates and address concerns.
Safety And Infection ControlFollow all safety and infection control protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to hygiene standards.
QualificationsCertification: Must hold a current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification as required by state regulations.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a CNA training program.
Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred but not always required.
SkillsStrong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to handle physical and emotional demands of the job.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
Physical RequirementsAbility to lift and move patients, often weighing more than 50 pounds.
Capability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
