POSITION SUMMARY

Provide a welcoming and safe space for the children of the nursery while supporting the ministry of the church.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work as part of a team of employees and volunteers.
• Help set up the nursery room at 9:45 AM on Sunday mornings. Clean toys and prepare for the day. Be ready to receive children by 10:00 AM.
• Receive children from parents using appropriate security and safety procedures.
• Love and care for all children in the nursery.
• Change all diapers, clean all spills, and maintain the area with a high level of sanitation and appeal to the eye.
• Engage the children in creative play, songs, stories, and otherwise provide a happy, wholesome experience.
• Monitor condition of nursery equipment and supplies and alert the Director of Christian Education with needs or concerns.
• By 12:15 PM, ensure the room is clean, toys and materials used by children are sanitized. Return all teaching materials and toys to their proper bins and location.
• Comply and execute the Safe Church Policy of the Congregational Church of Birmingham United Church of Christ.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Hours: 9:45am-12:15pm each sunday. Reasonable absences are expected. Notice must be given to the Senior Pastor and Director of Christian Education Director seven days in advance unless in case of illness or family emergency.

Salary: Salary commensurate with experience. Position is part time, and as such, no benefits are offered.
