Our operating unit provides full-service construction, repair and emergency services related to Cable TV, Telephone, Fiber-Optic communications, and Power construction including underground trenching, plowing, missile, and directional boring and aerial construction, and we are looking for a Director of Operations to join our team.
The Director of Operations at SEU is responsible for scheduling, directing all internal operations, and maintaining communications between employees and the office, as well as servicing customers to ensure SEU delivers its services and products at optimum productivity, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, safety, and ease of operations. The primary function is to provide necessary planning, organization, direction, coordination, and control to meet or exceed the goals set by the Company. The Director of Operations must implement management controls and reporting procedures to ensure all pertinent decision-making information is readily available.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage, operate, and maintain the company's labor & equipment costs within the defined budget guidelines.
- Direct and supervise activities and performance for quantity and quality of work produced. This includes training, scheduling, establishing goals and standards, and evaluations.
- Maintain high employee morale.
- Plan all operations to optimize the efficiency of the facility, operations work face, materials supplies, equipment, and roles. Additionally, track productivity for labor and equipment costs.
- Monitor and enforce all company safety policies, rules, and regulations.
- Ensure that the quality of all operations meets or exceeds established company guidelines.
- Check all job progress reports for accuracy and completeness. Coordinate paperwork flow, maintain records, and analyze the system for improvement on equipment and processes.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with customers and suppliers.
- Establish and maintain a cooperative relationship with all other personnel of the company.
- Enhance the image and reputation of SEU by exercising sound and ethical business practices in all areas.
- Establish, enforce, and monitor security standards and procedures to protect the company's assets, wherever they are located.
- Establish, maintain, and enforce a preventive maintenance program for all machinery, equipment, and vehicles under their authority.
- Maintain the stock of materials and other inventory items.
- Maintain confidentiality of company information as directed by the President.
- Train a designated employee to ensure the duties of the Operations Manager continue to be performed in the event of unforeseen or prolonged absences.
- Hire, discipline, and train personnel within the Operations Department according to company policies and procedures.
- Maintain the company premises in good and secure condition.
- Keep pace with advances and technological changes in the industry and take advantage of those that will increase the company's effectiveness and profits.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the General Manager.
Required Skills & Qualifications:

- Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in a managerial role within a similar environment.
- Strong understanding of labor and equipment management, including budgeting and cost control.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationships with employees, customers, and suppliers.
- Ability to analyze and improve operational processes.
- Proficiency in using management software and tools.
- High level of integrity and ethical standards.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in the telecom, utility, construction, and/or engineering industry
- Ability to foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
- Excellent negotiation skills and experience in contract management.
- Experience in change management and organizational development.
- Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred
