Job Summary

Connecticut Gastroenterology Associates are hiring a part-time laboratory assistant to help support CGA Laboratory in Bloomfield, CT. This position is part time, generally Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and either Saturday or Sunday.
Responsibilities

-Receipt and correlation of surgical specimens (biopsies)

-Registration and accessioning of surgical specimens

-Scanning and filing of patient requisitions

-Labeling of blocks and slides

-Grossing/tissue transfer

-Filing of tissue blocks and slides

-Inventory control and stocking

-Packaging of slides and paperwork for offsite delivery

-Other duties as assigned by the laboratory manager

Educational Requirements /Qualifications

-Associates degree in biology or related health science

-Knowledge of medical terminology

-Ability to multitask

-Strong attention to detail and organization

-Basic computer skills
