SALARY: $22.56 per hour, 20 hours per week
POSITION SUMMARY: The Part-Time Children and Youth Services Coordinator will work alongside the Children and Youth Services Coordinator to support the implementation of year-round programming for children, youth, families, and school administration under CIRI's Refugee School Impact Grant. Key responsibilities include acting as a resource and liaison for refugee families and local school administrators, coordinating school enrollments, managing summer learning activities, and providing support to families, teachers, and school administration.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Program Coordination and Activities:
  • Collaborate with CIRI's Refugee Services staff to identify and engage school-aged students in need of support.
  • Coordinate with various CIRI departments to provide culturally appropriate support for newly arrived refugee children and youth.
  • Assist with public-school enrollment processes and facilitate smooth transitions for newly arriving refugee students.
  • Foster relationships between children, youth, families, and school staff to address educational needs and provide support.
  • Organize workshops, learning sessions, and individual meetings with students and families to provide targeted information.
  • Coordinate and manage aspects of CIRI's Refugee Summer Academy and participate in community outreach events.
Program Impact and Data Tracking:
  • Collect and track client data, develop reports to meet funder requirements, and support program monitoring and evaluation.
  • Provide timely and accurate data entry of service activities into program files and client information databases.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (e.g., education, social work, social services, anthropology, psychology, international studies, women's studies, public health, or related).
  • Minimum one-year experience working with vulnerable children and youth, preferably with refugees or immigrants.
  • Exceptional verbal and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate with diverse groups.
  • Experience working in a multicultural team setting.
  • Self-directed, motivated, able to manage multiple tasks, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to CIRI's mission, vision, and values.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices a plus.
  • Experience with high school students a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with social services databases preferred.
  • Must have a reliable car, valid U.S. driver's license, and valid auto insurance.
  • Travel expected throughout greater Bridgeport area.
  • Ability to accommodate occasional weekend and after-hours work commitments.
  • Foreign-language skills appreciated, including Swahili, French, Tigrinya.
