POSITION SUMMARY: Identify andSecure housing for refugees through network of landlords and State housing programs. Organize home set up and plan action steps to ensure smooth transitions. This position is based in our Bridgeport Office.
Salary : This is a part time position of 22.5 hours per week at a salary of $22.56 per hour. This is a temporary position through 9/30/24.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Develop and maintain relationship with landlords and community housing navigators.
  • Keep abreast of landlord/tenant rules and responsibilities.
  • Learn and comply with applicable housing requirements of state, local and federal programs.
  • Deliver administrative support which may include utility set up, rent payment reminders, leases updates.
  • Collaborate with all available local/state/federal rental assistance programs.
  • Enroll clients in housing and rental programs as needed.
  • Educate landlords and property managers about agency resettlement programs.
  • When needed, hire moving assistance and ensure all household furniture and supplies are placed in the apartment or other housing prior to clients arrival.
  • Schedule and plan for home set ups with volunteer team, including organization of home cleanings and furniture deliveries.
  • Ensure clients have a full understanding of lease requirements, tenant/landlord rights prior to signing the lease agreement.
  • Become proficient in using multiple data base platforms.
  • Comply with detailed documentation requirements and complete in a timely manner case related documentation, paperwork, and reports for federal auditing purposes.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least 2 years' experience in a client-facing employment position and / or 1 year experience working with vulnerable and/or underserved populations.
  • Superior organizational, communication and prioritization skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and proven ability to collaborate with other staff and service providers
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience working with client databases
  • Must have reliable car, valid U.S. driver's license and valid auto insurance
  • Ability to physically assist with apartment set up, moving furniture, and carrying household-kitchen items
  • Ability to have a flexible schedule to accommodate occasional after-hours services
  • Verbal fluency in Swahili, Tigrinya, Arabic, Dari, Pashto, French or Spanish a plu s
