Technical Writer Duties And Responsibilities
- Independently gather information from subject matter experts to develop, organize, write procedure manuals, technical specifications, configurable/installation instructions, and process documentation.
- Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with a consistent and cohesive voice across all documentation.
- Write documentation for internal teams such as developers and programmers.
- Communicate complex ideas in a concise manner.
- Disseminate technical information in easy-to-understand language for a non-technical audience.
- Ability to take existing and potential content and improve it.
- Have technical accuracy in writing user documentation.
- Work with product designers to understand the requirements including layout and design.
- Work and communicate effectively with software developers, product marketing, and product managers to write and maintain high-quality documentation.
- Recommend designs, layouts, and formats for documents
- Assess, analyze, and evaluate versatile audiences, including non-technical users, system administrators, integrators, and programmers.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Technical Writing required.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or other related disciplines required.
- Previous software development experience preferred.
- Experience and knowledge of delivery methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, etc.) preferred.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics.
- Ability to work with difficult dynamics across multiple teams.
- Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations.
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Comprehensive understanding of the systems development life cycle (SDLC).
