Job Summary

Description
The nxtgen Lower 48 (L48) Finance Controls Coordinator is accountable for finalizing the controls, confirming existing and adapting or adding new SOX key controls. The position coordinates with the Integration Manager and the L48 Finance nxtgen team/leads to ensure control points are identified, test plans are established and evidence of the controls are contemplated in the testing cycles.
The Controls Coordinator should understand and evaluate end-to-end processes, controls and integrations between S/4, various nxtgen workstreams and Edge applications and will review training development and delivery to ensure completeness. This position collaborates with the Supervisor, L48 Compliance Systems, L48 ALM & SOX Coordinator, business area subject matter experts (SMEs) from across the Assets & Functions, other Pod Leads and members of the Core Team and Financial Services to develop solutions, address challenges and exploit opportunities. The position is the primary point of contact for the Security, Controls & Governance (SCG) core Finance Lead.

Job Description

Responsibilities may include:

  • Work collaboratively with other L48 nxtgen workstreams to ensure the control environment for L48 remains strong, with documentation substantial to withstand audit at go-live
  • Identify efficiencies, advise on best practices and influence control design
  • Review and advise on test cases to ensure control points are adequately identified and addressed through the testing cycles
  • Perform a single point of contact for Internal Audit or EY on organizing walk-throughs or pre-implementation procedures
  • Serve as the key resource to BU personnel in ensuring adequate & appropriate implementation of policy and related controls post go-live
  • Provide review and oversight on internal controls through risk-based reviews/audits
  • Facilitate process improvements or fixes, as needed as updates are implemented
  • Provide BU internal control training
  • Collaborate to coordinate internal audits

Basic/Required:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, or Business or foreign equivalent
  • 5 years of experience with internal controls processes and policies
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with MS O365 applications: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, and Teams
  • Intermediate level of knowledge of exploration & production operations
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to travel 10% of the time on a yearly basis

Preferred:

  • Intermediate level of proficiency with previous audit experience
  • Strong analytical skills with keen ability to identify potential problems or areas warranting further analysis or investigation
  • Ability to coordinate requests for information efficiently
  • Strong oral & written communication skills
  • Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what's right
  • Builds effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical
  • Listens actively and invites new ideas for exchanged opinions, then influences and acts to drive positive performance and achieve results
