Location: Dallas, TX *must be in, able to relocate or within driving distance*

Notes from Manager: Role is 100% Onsite at the Dallas Love Airport and must be able to pass CJIS & TSA Background Requirements.
Position Overview:
*SQL BDA w/ min 7 yrs of experience
The Database Administrator is responsible for managing all of the City s databases, testing their capabilities, troubleshooting as required, planning, designing, testing, protecting, implementing, operating, and maintaining the City s database assets and related policies and procedures. Performance of these responsibilities is essential to ensure a seamless and constant flow of information throughout the City while considering both backend data structure and front end accessibility for end-users.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
DBMS installation/SQL database set up, tuning, basic programming and data conversion;
Administer, monitor, and maintain acceptable database performance;
Build high-quality databases that meet both back end and front end needs, minimizing downtime and offering fast query responses;
Assist with SQL query tuning and configurations, while crafting and deploying associated patches;
Troubleshoot database performance issues to immediately improve business activities;
Perform bug tracking and quality assurance tasks;
Establish and manage key relationships with necessary vendors to stay updated with new trends and development paths;
Create and prepare performance reports and analysis;
Develop and maintain custom reports and data integrations;
Coordinate with customer, internal Information Services and vendor staff for upgrades, enhancements and patches;
Create necessary technical support and configuration documentation;
Work with vendor(s) and internal Information Services staff to develop, implement and maintain an adequate test environment;
Develop and maintain a set of test scripts and plans;
Provide technical support and representation at trade shows, conferences, and similar events as needed;
Proactive and regular recommendations for system improvements;
Evaluate database software purchases;
On-call support as needed;
Perform such other related duties as may be assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science or similar field from an accredited college or university, plus a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience:
Strong command of SQL and SQL server tools;
Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards;
Understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling;
Advanced and broad-based problem solving skills;
Extensive experience with database technologies (MySQL, MS SQL, PostgreSQL Oracle, MongoDB);
Good understanding of data and schema standards and concepts;
Good understanding of database design, implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance;
Sense of ownership and pride in performance and its impact on the City s success;
Critical thinker and exceptional problem-solving skills;
Team player;
Good time-management skills;
Great interpersonal and communication skills;
Ability to explain complex ideas in simple terms;
Preferred but not required:
MCSE/MCSA certifications;
PMI Certification;
Experience with Windows Server environments;
Experience with cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure) a plus;
Experience with GIS and spatial databases;
Experience with web and server programming and scripting languages;
PowerShell and Unix shell scripting skills;
Familiarity with SSAS, SSIS, SSRS;
Experience working in the municipal, county or state-based environments.
Knowledge of:
Enterprise application systems and architecture design skills;
End User information requirements assessment;
Technical, application and database diagnostic skills;
Database principles and SQL and/or relational database management systems (RDBMS) skills;
Data analysis and related concepts and techniques;
Implementing and troubleshooting complex software;
Developing documentation and training materials;
Ability to learn and support new systems and/or databases as they arise and/or are assigned;
Change management process and documentation skills;
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or Google productivity suites;
Data maintenance scripting using tools and languages such as Python;
Software development lifecycle (SDLC) methods;
Advanced and analytic problem solving.
Skill/Ability to:
Utilize effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to maintain positive working relationships with City departments and personnel, outside agencies, and vendors;
Understand and carry out oral and written instructions;
Ability to serve other City departments in a diplomatic and professional manner;
Good interpersonal skills;
Understanding of advanced technical, scientific, legal, or mathematical concepts;
Subject matter expert on databases and related business processes.
